		<description>This is a great article. I have not heard of this until now, but it sounds fascinating and clearly already works well. I can&#039;t imagine why companies wouldn&#039;t already be trying to do this, even without incentive, but I am not surprised, sadly.

And Gofman was right: the potential in the U.S. is mind-boggling.  EPA and DOE estimates suggest we have enough recoverable waste energy -- which would be captured mainly by CHP, but also waste heat recovery -- to slash U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 20%.  That&#039;s as much as if we took every passenger vehicle off the road.  Meanwhile, costs would fall due to increased efficiency.  The main obstacle is regulations that protect electric utilities, making alternative power generation relatively difficult.  Change the rules and we&#039;d have a much more efficient system.</description>
